The partnership between Basic Water Needs and Plan Nederland has been selected as one of the five nominees for the ‘Best Existing Partnership Award’ 2014.The Partnership elections are an initiative of the Punchy Pack and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They elections stimulate business cases in developing countries from Dutch companies together with NGOs and/or government institutes.
On the 18th of November the winner of the ‘Best Existing Partnership Award’ 2014 will be announced. Until that date you can vote for our partnership.
Basic Water Needs and Plan Nederland started working together in the beginning of 2013, when they started a project to improve the drinking water quality in three slum areas in Delhi, India. During the project BWN has trained (female) entrepreneurs and enabled them to sell affordable water filters. Plan India has enhanced these activities by creating awareness in the three neighbourhoods on drinking water quality and hygiene. The sales of affordable water filters by local self help groups and entrepreneurs will have a positive effect on the health of about 30,000 people during the project. After the project sales will continue, creating sustainable access to water filters and spare parts within the neighbourhoods and city.
